After to customers who want a better physique

After many years, the truth is revealed when Lance Armstrong confessed to Oprah that he cheated in the competition Tour de France on January 18, 2013 (Goldman). There are companies out there that made performance-enhancing drugs a.k.a PEDs and sell it to everyone, including athletes. One of the companies well-known to people who use PEDs is MediTech Pharmaceutical. And on the other side, World Anti-Doping Agency a.k.a WADA is one of the many organization out there who opposes against using PEDs for general use and in sports. The risks that come from using the performance-enhancing drugs have begun the ongoing battle of using the drugs in sports. The disagreement on the use of performance-enhancing drugs MediTech and WADA have can be resolved by experimenting with amino acids supplements on athletes.     The first stakeholder is Meditech, one of the “leading companies in the production of high-end performance-enhancing drugs to build better physiques” (Medi Tech). MediTech mission and vision to provide performance-enhancing drugs that help “build better physique” and they “care for the quality…products we offer to our clients” (Medi Tech). Many steroid-user websites gave good reviews on using their drugs to help them with their physique and performance. Most of the reviewers are bodybuilders as there aren’t a lot of athletes out there confessing they are using PEDs after all. Each of their drugs is catered to each users’ specific needs and benefits. They assure their buyers that they only use “Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) of superior quality (USP/BP) and have set up a strict set of processes to ensure all our products meet the highest quality standards…” (Medi Tech) that are allowed in the industry. The second stakeholder is one of the wells know organizations out there that fight against the use of PEDs in sports competition: WADA or World Anti-Doping Agency. WADA mission is “to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sport” (World Anti-Doping Agency). The organization is established with international sports movements and international governments. They did much research and educate people the harms of using PEDs and how it can affect one’s body. Their vision is seen athletes compete in a fair, safe, and dope-free world (World Anti-Doping Agency).  Even though these two stakeholders did not directly argue with each other, they are still parts of the two sides of the battle of using PEDs in sports.    The two stakeholders do not share similar goals with each other at all. MediTech that sell steroids to customers who want a better physique or to improve their performances. They are “enthusiastic and passionate about providing quality products and services that improve performance and deliver outstanding results to our customers” (Medi Tech). They have their own research and professionals who take great care in providing excellent and effective result to the users. Their drugs are to help athletes and non-athletes “peace of mind and complete satisfaction” (Medi Tech) when using their products to enhance their abilities and body. PEDs are considered illegal in the U.S., but it doesn’t stop people who support the use of steroids for everyone. In the article “Viewpoint: Legalisation of performance-enhancing drugs”, the authors Bengt Kayser, Alexandre Mauron, and Andy Miah comment on the fact that “Getting help from one’s genes—by being blessed with a performance-enhancing genetic predisposition—is acceptable” (Kayser, Mauron and Miah) while “Use of drugs is not” (Kayser, Mauron and Miah) in the sport competition. In general, sport is dangerous no matter what, even rules and policies can’t keep everyone safe and uninjured on the field. They believe that “by allowing medically supervised doping, the drugs used could be assessed for a clearer view of what is dangerous and what is not” (Kayser, Mauron, and Miah). Allowing the study to be done, it can lessen the damage made from the sport, an example is soccer, which is one of the most popular sports worldwide and players would have to be careful with the high risk for their knee and ankle. Legalizing PEDs allow a better way to educate both non-athletes and athletes to know the benefits and risks of using PEDs, also decrease the number of deaths and health problems that occur when using the drugs illegally (Kayser, Mauron, and Miah).  To WADA, using PEDs is a way to gain an advantage in sports no matter what, even if athletes are not genetically gifted. They have created World Anti-Doping Codes that listed what substances are prohibited in using for sports internationally (World Anti-Doping Agency). One of the popular ways to doping is using an erythropoiesis-stimulating agent that limit “the rate of oxygen delivery to the exercising muscles” (Noakes). However, using erythropoietin too much cause the sudden death due to the great reduction of heart rate that occurs usually at night (Noakes). Erythropoietin provides the same effect as anabolic steroids. The competitive cyclist Marco Pantani, the winner of 1998 Tour de France, was banned from cycling after testing positive of erythropoietin in his urine after the competition in Tour of Italy (Noakes). Timothy D. Noakes, the author of the article “Tainted Glory – Doping and Athletic Performance”, comment that “Performance-enhancing drugs pose a great threat not only to the health of users but to the moral integrity and hence the continued relevance of modern sport” (Noakes). The moral part of this statement is relevance with what WADA goal, which is to point out what both stakeholders have in common. They both want to have keep a fair competition in sports, as well as helping athletes improve their performance, even though they both have their way to improve the enhancement.     If they want to reach a fairground on the sport playfield, each of them has to give up some items to balance each other out. MediTech would have to give up making steroids to making supplements or medicine that are safer to drink without the downside risks. In return, WADA needs to provide funds for Meditech to create safer drugs that still help enhance athletes’ performances. It would help if they allow experimentation with the banned substances to see the less dangerous drugs can be improving to be friendlier toward the health of the athletes. Marius Emil Rusu and Daniela-Saveta Popa, authors of “Protein food and amino acid supplements in athletes’ diet”, suggest to improve muscle strength and mass, there needs to be a balance of diet to improve this but many chose protein supplements because they “increasing performance, speeding up recovery, increasing energy, immune support, improving nutrition, and changing the body composition” (Rusu and Popa). Their article is informing the audience what amino acids are there and how they can help improve athletes performance with the assurance of using an increasing amount of the supplements (Rusu and Popa). Amino acids supplements help “enhance muscle mass and performance if the training stimulus is consistent and the dietary intake is adequate” (Rusu and Popa). L-citrulline and citrulline malate of non-essential amino acid Citrulline help enhance exercise performances and improve the muscle fatigue and concentration after a workout (Rusu and Popa). to support this is one experimentation with a group of female over 40 had their aerobic and anaerobic performance improve after consuming 8 g of citrulline malate with  12 g of dextrose one hour before the test (Rusu and Popa). Overall, the best way to enhance their performance and improve muscle mass, athletes must have enough doses, whether it comes from high protein food or protein supplements, of protein to be more than the rate of muscle breakdown; the doses also help maintain as well as building muscle mass up (Rusu and Popa). To achieve the ideal goal, athletes must follow the guidance of professionals and dietitians of their diet as well as how many doses of protein to take to improve their idealistic body.     By experimenting with amino acid supplements as well as maintain the right balance diet, athletes can achieve their ideal performance and body. This way it is safe as well as not illegal at all like prohibited performance-enhancing drugs that athletes take in secret to gain an advantage in the sports field. Amino acid supplements help the body produce its own amino acids even better and more naturally without the downside of steroids or erythropoietic.
