 2.5-Impediments and Risks

        The tendency of
most organisms is to be far away from dangerous things. The organisms may have evolved, but the tendency
stays the same. Now carrying many people into space is dangerous, but the risks
have to be taken.

        There are many
impediments in space. Some of the ones that have been studied are the Van Allen
Radiation Belt, Space Debris, Static Electricity, Cosmic Radiation and Space
Fungus to name a few.

 2.5.1-Van Allen Radiation Belt

        The Van Allen
Radiation Belt is a belt of charged particles that were entrapped by the
Magnetic Field of the planet. The Earth takes in two such belts, the inner and
outer. The inner belt consists mainly of energetic protons, while the other
consists mostly of energetic electrons. This Van Allen Belt can fry up to any electrical item without proper shielding. The
distance of the Radiation Belt from the surface of the Earth ranges from 500 to
58000 kilometers.

        The whole
settlement must be protected when being carried up to its orbit. For this protective
layer, all the electric gadgets will be turned off, until the path is clear.
The damage that can be done by this belt can be from lethal to almost none.
There are only two ways of escaping the Van Allen Belt. One of them is by
destroying it, and the other is by escaping from the hands of peril. The one
used by Project X is the way that does not produce imbalance, that is by
escaping. The Apollo Mission, the one to go to the Moon, had to go past this
barrier. They had no other option, but to pass through the barrier at a high
speed to avoid large damage to the DNA and Brain Cells.

        ‘Project X’ is
will also contain radiation shields, so the people will be safe and sound. The
shield will be made of particles that can repel the radiation. As the Inner Belt
is made of protons, it is safe to use a shield made of protons held together.
After passing the inner belt, there will be a small gap of 5000 kilometers,
which is enough to dispose of the protons and get electrons or add an excess of electrons to the cations. The outer belt is made of electrons,
so there must be a negative charge.

There will be very less severe damage

People and machinery will be safe

There will be discharge in charged particles

Very Unstable

 2.5.2-Static Discharge

        For people on
Earth, static discharge is a kind of amusements for their friends to get
electrocuted. This is formed by the loss of electrons on one surface and the
gain on the other. The transfer or jump in these electrons causes an electric discharge. Down here on Earth it is
entertainment, but in space, it is a huge death storm waiting to happen.

        To avoid the
huge death storm from unleashing the terror, ‘Project X’ must be made sure it
does not conduct electricity. To make sure it does not, it will be made up of
an insulator. The whole settlement will be completely static discharge proof.

 2.5.3-Cosmic Radiation

        Getting changed
into a hybrid of two completely different species in the middle of a science
experiment is one of the worst nightmares a person can have. The cosmic
radiation that is in the vast nothingness has the ability to change and destroy
the DNA and Brain Cells in the body. Prolonged exposure to this can cause
severe damage to the body, due to destruction or change in DNA and memory loss
thanks to the Cosmic Radiation. Studies have also shown that the radiation in space, can also awaken the dormant
bacteria and viruses.

        To overcome
this particular type of radiation, the whole settlement will be covered by the Ozone Layer, protected by w-BN, and made of
Bakelite. Most of the Radiation will be fended off
by the layer of w-BN and the magnetic field, the remaining must pass through
Kevlar, whatever is left out will be absorbed by the Ozone, if any, more
radiation is left out, it reaches the layer of Tempered Glass, Aluminum, and

 2.5.4-Space Fungus

        It has been
studied that microorganisms can survive
anywhere. The fungus has been clearly grown on board the ISS. This is very
dangerous as if Fungus itself growing fine, then other microorganisms will also
grow without any problem. Even the Cosmic Radiation will also play a major role
in the growing of lethal microorganisms.

        There is no
other option, but to either find a cure
or die suffering the disease. The second
option is not really an option picked by many, so the doctors and scientists in the Medical Lab will keep the disease
contained and try to find a way to make it dormant again.

 2.6-Martian Base

        The Martian
Base is another colony which will be made on the surface of Mars. This Martian
Base will be made in the Northern Part of Mars. This colony plays an important
role in the life of the humans. This structure too will be made of Bakelite,
Toughened Glass, and Aluminum. Many
productive activities will take place in the Martian Base like growing of
crops, sustain people and make Mars habitable.

        The Martian
Base will make the sure that the space colony will survive well and act as a
support to the colony. It will be made in the Northern Hemisphere of Mars
because the Northern Hemisphere contains more water and can sustain life with
ease. The disadvantage of choosing this spot is that it the Northern Hemisphere
is not magnetized, the Southern is magnetized.

        The people
living in the Martian Base will grow crops on the soil, outside the colony, for
the first couple of years, not for consumption, but for the development of the
atmosphere of Mars, which is 100 times thinner than Earth’s and mainly consists
of 95% Carbon Dioxide, 2.7% Nitrogen and trace quantities of other gases.

        The soil on
Mars contains all the minerals of the Earth soil
but contains heavy metals, like Lead and Arsenic in higher quantities. Crops
will be grown for the first few years in the soil outside the Martian Base, so
the atmosphere will become a little thicker and consist mainly of Oxygen and
decrease the heavy metal component
present in the soil.

will be produced with the help of solar panels while during the day, and run
with the wind energy, produced by dust storms on the surface of Mars during the
night. The Martian Base will be covered with solar panels to increase the light
that can be captured by the solar panels.

        There will be a
hemisphere in the middle connected to four other smaller hemispheres. The big
middle dome is where all the residential activities take place. The amount of
population that can be accommodated in the Martian Base will be around 200
residents. The upper dome will be the chamber for the rearing of animals, the bottom one for controlling the whole
colony, the one on the left for industrial purposes, and the one on the right
for servicing of spacecraft and accepting
the empty water tanks from the main colony.

The middle hemisphere or the Residential Layer will have a
radius of 0.5 kilometers. In this one
kilometer of land, up to 200 people can live and complete all the activities
that they do in a day.

        Mining on Mars
will take place in the nearby area. Many
people will be involved in this activity. Studies have proven that the minerals
on Mars are three times better than the ones found on Earth. Most of the
minerals will be found underground, so mining must be made to collect them. The
Major ores found on Mars is that of Aluminum, Chromium, Magnesium, Titanium,
and Iron. Other ores that are found in
trace quantities are that of Lithium, Europium, Gold, Tungsten, and Nickel.

        Aluminum will
be used in the building of the space colony, as it will have to be mixed with
Bakelite and Toughened Glass.

        Chromium will
be used in the manufacture of stainless steels and in the polishing of mirrors. It can be used as a material to block the
dust storms down on the surface of Mars.

        The magnesium
compounds like milk of magnesia, Epsom Salt, its chloride, and citrate will all be very useful in the
production of cures to diseases.

        Titanium is an
important alloying agent. It is mixed with Aluminum and Iron to make space
crafts and missiles, thanks to its property of being able to withstand high

        Iron is one of
the most used metal, because of its low cost, and high strength. It will be
used to make steel and helps in the making of aircrafts, and other important

        Lithium is one
of the most important elements that can
be used to make Li-ion Batteries. Lithium Carbonate can also cure extreme depressions
and stabilize wild mood swings.

        Europium is an
element which has the tendency to attract neutrons, it is being used in nuclear
reactors. Europium oxide is used for making television screens.

        Gold is a
shiny, metal which can be easily molded into
shapes. It is also used in dentistry
because it is inert and non-allergic.
This makes it the choice for many industries.

        Tungsten is a
tough transition metal which has the highest melting and boiling point making
it ideal for the high-temperature industries like arc-welding electrodes,
heating elements in high-temperature furnaces, and filaments in bulbs.

        Nickel is a
non-corrosive, non-allergic material which is mixed with titanium, and silver
to make Nitico, a strong alloy that can
be easily flexed but comes back to its
original shape.

        Water on Mars
will be found on the Northern Pole of Mars in the solid state, that is ice.
This ice will be blasted to chunks with dynamite
and collected back the Martian Base. In the Industrial sector, it will be
melted and purified with the help of Scrubbers, Tailing and Settling Ponds, and
Hydroxide Precipitation. Manned missions of four people on the team go with
enough dynamite to get enough chunks of ice.

 2.6.1-Life Support on Mars

        The life on
Mars can also be made easily with the help of the Forces of Nature. They are
Gravitational Pull, Sunlight, Electricity and a Magnetic Field.

        The Gravity
experienced by people on the surface of Mars is only about one-third of the
Earth’s own. This gravity makes it quite difficult to live on. The Sunlight
that reaches the Martian Base will be quite diminished in size, and the warmth
also decreased. Electricity can be produced in many different ways on the
surface of Mars. The only ways that can be used by the people on the Martian
Base is that of the Sun and the Wind that blows dust storms. Solar Panels will
be placed all around the Martian Base and even
on it. These Solar Panels will be connected to batteries that can store a large
amount of electricity. Some windmills will also be used to increase the
production of electricity. These windmills will be rotated by the winds that
kick up the dust, making a dust storm. During a Dust Storm, the particles of
dust will make the blades of the windmill move faster. A Magnetic Field that covers
a space settlement is easy, but one to cover a whole planet will be a lot of

Protection From Dust Storm

When the Martian Base is under the ambush of a Dust Storm,
the automatic sensors around the Martian Base will bring shields made of Nickel
to block the Storm. This is a very useful technique as it can protect all the
people and can produce more amounts of electricity.

dreams, to make one huge profit out of it is good, just like how assembling
‘Project X’ is to make a huge profit of saving the lives of many. The journey
into the future, of living in outer space has been a sure trip for me. ‘Project X’ of has been made on the basis of how one
would want to survive. Feeling that the artificial environment in space is the
surface of the old Earth.

 3.2-Extending ‘Project X’

        We people, on
the surface of the Earth, are fighting
over a matter of space. The Surface Area of Earth has been the same since the
humans came into existence, but the number of people is growing rapidly. To make sure that the same does not happen in
‘Project X’, it will be extended once the limit is reached. When the limit is
about to be reached, four rods will be connected to the four spheres, which in
turn is connected to four other spheres. This is just extending the settlement on a large scale.

        Extending the
middle two layers can cause an imbalance
in the weight of the settlement, thus weakening of the colony. So, for every two
times, it is extended, there will be a
rod connecting the spheres from the docking station from the top, and another
rod from the lab to the bottom.

        Almost nothing
in this world is free of cost, we have to pay money for everything. The
visualization of all this can be free, but the building of it is not. To build a
colony to hold dreams and lives of many,
loans and debts must be taken. The amount of money required to assemble the dreams is given below.
